Step 12:   Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of the steps,
we tried to carry this message to others and to practice
these principles in all our affairs.

Recommended reading: Luke 3, 4

Today is the day we traditionally celebrate the birth of Christ, and our family has a lot of traditional ways to rejoice. It involves lots of food, fun, gift giving, and eventually, napping. But we’re adding a new thing this year; we’re going to listen to Andrew Peterson’s CD: Behold the Lamb of God, the true tall tale of the coming of Christ. If you don’t have a copy, you’ll want to rectify that shortcoming. I’m sure you can find it on his Web site at www.andrew-peterson.com.

Anyway, in case you don’t have it, here are the words to Peterson’s song, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks. (See Luke 2:8-15; the CD says, “Traditional—music and additional words by Andrew Peterson). Enjoy, and may you and yours have a blessed day!

While shepherds watched their flocks by night

All seated on the ground

The angel of the Lord came down, and glory shone around

“Fear not!” said he for mighty dread had seized their troubled minds

“Glad tidings of great joy I bring to you and all mankind

To you in David’s house this day is born of David’s line

The Savior who is Christ the Lord and this shall be the sign

The heavenly babe you there shall find to human view displayed

All meanly wrapped in swaddling bands and in a manger laid”

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Christ is born

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Christ is born

“All glory be to God on high and to the earth be peace

Good will henceforth from God to man

Begin and never cease”
