Affirmations
As a result of our core beliefs, and using the Christ-centered 12 steps as a guide, we have developed 12 affirmations that start us on the journey of learning who we really are in Christ. We hope these 12 affirmations will be one way of getting you started on the journey of discovering your true God-created identity.
Affirmation 1 - I can find grace and mercy in time of need.
Now that we know what we have-Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God-let's not let it slip through our fingers. We don't have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He's been through weakness and testing, experienced it all-all but the sin. So let's walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. John 4:14-16 The Message
Affirmation 2 - I am assured all works together for good.
All around us we observe a pregnant creation…But it's not only around us; it's within us…He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 8, selected passages and verse 28, The Message
Affirmation 3 - I have been adopted as God's child.
Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this.) Ephesians 1:5, The Message
Affirmation 4 - I am free forever from condemnation.
Those who enter into Christ's being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death. Romans 8:1-3, The Message
Affirmation 5 - I have access to God through the Holy Spirit.
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Ephesians 2:17-18 NIV
Affirmation 6 - I am a member of Christ's body.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. I Corinthians 12:27 NIV
Affirmation 7 - I am a new person with a God-created identity.
But we all…are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. II Corinthians 3:18
Affirmation 8 - It is God's will that you should be sanctified.
We ask you ~ urge is more like it ~ that you keep on doing what we told you to do to please God, not in a dogged religious plod, but in a living, spirited dance. God wants you to live a pure life. I Thessalonians 4:1-3 The Message
Affirmation 9 - I am chosen by Christ to succeed at His plan for my life.
"You didn't choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won't spoil." John 15:16 The Message
Affirmation 10 - I may approach God with boldness, freedom and confidence.
Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come fearlessly into God's presence, assured of his glad welcome. Ephesians 3:12
Affirmation 11 - I have been given a spirit of power, love and self-control.
God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7
Affirmation 12 - I am a minister for God; I have a purpose.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. John 15:5, 7, 8
