The People of Northstar Community
Northstar Community is a group of people who have experienced addiction, abuse, trauma, mental illness, divorce, loss, and more.
We've found healing in community. If you or someone you love is hurting then please join us and you'll find the resources and support you need.
Teresa graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Psychology and she has served as pastor at NSC for over 19 years. Teresa is also Executive Director of the National Association of Christian Recovery.
Teresa is author of several publications. One of her books, “Bridges to Grace,” highlights stories of churches across America that are devoted to supporting the work of recovery in their local community.
In her free time she enjoys reading, kayaking with her husband Pete, and being the best grandmother she can be to Christian and Norah.
Scott grew up attending NSC, and so it has (almost) always been a part of his life. After earning a BS in Business Management at VA Tech, Scott earned his Master’s of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He is currently working on his Master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Scott enjoys playing guitar, watching movies, and, most importantly, spending time with his wife, Brittany, and daughter Norah.
Linda works tirelessly as NSC’s managing coordinator to make sure the organization runs as smoothly as possible. She organizes and helps plan all of our events and takes care of all the details that Scott and Teresa are prone to overlook.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, in particular her granddaughters Charlotte and Elle.
Steve faithfully provides music for our Saturday and Sunday services every week. He selects songs that draw out key recovery themes that offer us hope and bolster our faith.
He is a devoted family man and friend who enjoys movies, music, and novels.
